Day 16 : Climbing the Bøverbotten

Categories Norway

Woopsie, a bit cold this morning in Bjorli but in the land of the vikings we consider this a challenge!

In Norway only pussies lay next to the swimming pool and drink cocktails. Norwegians climb mountains or swim in ice-cold fjords, so today we climbed a mountain (the Bøverbotten) to go and take a look at the lake Bøvervatnet.

There is a path that gently climbs the slopes to bring you to the 1050 meter high lake but alas…. The Van Den Kieboomkes decided to follow the river Bøvre straight up and keep it adventurous.

Beautiful waterfalls, one after the other and raging currents were passed to finally arrive at the lake where we took a deserved stop to enjoy the scenery and grab a bite from our pick nick we brought along (my pick nick consisted of half a litre of Tuborg). The weather was mild (cloudy with occasional rays of sunshine) so perfect for a good climb.

After the descent we went to the local supermarket and for the first time we exchanged our cans and plastic bottles in the special machine to recover the “pant” (vidange/leeggoed). We realised that we have been throwing for fortunes in the garbage bin because every can is 1 Norwegian Krone (10 cents) and a plastic bottle 2,5 Krones (25 cent). We recovered the magnificent sum of 7 Krones. With this great treasure we bought for 807 Krones of groceries including can and bottles for 9 Krones of “pant”.

When we got back we (of course) heated the Hot Tub and relaxed with a small drink and some snacks.
