Day 14+15 : Bjorli

Categories Norway

We travelled further inland after Trondheim. This is clearly the wetter part of our holiday but as Norway seems to prove : “After rain comes sunshine and then rain again”. It’s colder here on the mainland but the scenery is as beautiful as ever. You can see a small video of the scenery below, nothing special but just a classic view when you are driving in the mainland.

The first day in Bjorli (which is a ski-station in the winter) we relaxed and besides some shopping for groceries we stayed in our large and spacious cabin. There even was an outdoor hot tub that needs to be heated with wood (it takes 5 hours to heat the fat bastard).

We bought a piece of salmon the size of my forearm in length and we enjoyed a very nice evening dinner. The kids preferred deep frozen fish burger with bacon (yes, it exists!) and daddy prepared it for them but forgot to take a look at the timer. One of the burgers was VERY crispy (and probably cancerous) so we let faith decide who of both kids got the less charred one. Kristan lost and needs dental surgery now. In the evenin we all watched a movie in the television corner under the roof.

During the day the kids tend to stink up this place instead of enjoying the nature but in the evening it’s the gathering place for the family.

The next day was also a lazy day. Valérie and me went jogging in the surroundings and the kids went walking in the forest surrounding the cabin. In the afternoon we started heating the hot tub. During the heating we got a good rainshower that was quite peculiar : sunshine and heavy rain at the same time. It gives some nice images from the garden.

6 hours later (and many gin-tonics) we were ready to test the tub. Valérie went in first and found the temperature way to hot. She accidentally pulled the plug but we managed to get back in before all our hot water was heating the garden. The advantage of this rather clumsy manoeuvre was that we had to add some cold water to get the water level back but it also brought our boiling soup to a more acceptable temperature. We ate the rest of the salmon and went to bed to have a very relaxing sleep (hot tubs tend to bring your body into a state of total numbness).
